OUR PREOCUPATION WITH THE ECOLOGY
The ecology has always been our departing premise because life emanates from and is preserve by it. Because of our commitment to it, we both cultivate our coffee under the shade of our native trees and employ only natural fertilizers, keeping a good harmony with the flora and fauna.
'The shades of the trees help maintain soil quality. It reduces the need for chemical alternative herbicides and pest control which can ultimately endanger the surrounding ecosystem. With this, the taller trees play an important role providing natural mulch and heavily reduce soil erosion.
During the winter, these shaded coffee forests customarily serve as resting-places for migrating birds, insects and orchids. Indeed, shaded coffee plantations are well known not only for having the highest levels of biodiversity. More than that, they are also known for being a good observation point to appreciate the dancing of birds in the sky.
Villa Rica and the Oconal are the perfect habitat for innumerable migratory birds and many native animals.
